Boardwalk Practice

On warm Saturdays, we often practice on the North Beach boardwalk. Look for us from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will try to post more detailed times on Friday evenings, so please check back.

Friday, January 27, 4:00 p.m., World of Pets Expo, Maryland State Fairgrounds, Timonium. Dance Contest! Can you march like a soldier, shuffle like a cowboy, prance like a poodle or tap like a dachshund? If so, join the BowWows on the North Hall Stage to show us what you can do. Winners will be invited on stage to dance with Sam and Tucker.

When Tucker and Sam discovered this interesting bit of trivia, they decided to rewrite the movie script, telling the story from the dachshund's point of view. Join Dorothy, The Scarecrow, Tucker and Sam for this twenty-minute, multi-media extravaganza as they present an entirely original version of the classic tale. We'll be performing in the Maryland Pet Gazette Seminar & Canine Dance Theatre. Come early to secure your seat!

Thursday, March 3, 9:30 a.m., Beach Elementary School, Chesapeake Beach, MD. Premier of the BowWows' all new Wild Wild West show! When the outlaw Pink Pete rides into town fixin' to rob Black Bart (played by Tucker), it's up to Sheriff Sam to unmask that varment and save him from his thieving ways.

Saturday, March 12, 11:00 a.m., Central Community Library, Manassas, VA. The BowWows help the library celebrate its 40th anniversary with a rip-roaring show featuring all new songs, dances and skits -- including a five-act original version of the Wizard of Oz told from Tucker's point of view. Come watch Tucker and Dorothy (played by Joan) brave a tornado, follow the yellow brick road, dance with the scarecrow and triumph over the Wicked Witch of the West.

Saturday, April 2, 9:30 a.m., National Theatre, Washington, D.C. We are so excited to be invited back to this historic theater, which has hosted such dignitaries as Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh . . . and Sam and Tucker! Our new show includes everything mentioned above as well as a special episode of Indiana Jones staring Sam and Lynn (as Indy). Bring your dancing shoes because we'll have special opportunities for some lucky volunteers to dance with the dogs.

Saturday, April 2, 11:00 a.m., National Theatre, Washington, D.C. From the unmasking of the outlaw Pink Pete through the trip to Oz and Sam and Indy's wild adventure to the rip-roarin' final roundup, this fast-paced show will keep you entertained. The show will please all ages so please join us in this fabulous historic theater.

Intensive two-hour workshop will get you & your dog up & moving to a variety of musical beats while learning basic dog-dance steps. Friday, February 26, 7 p.m. Sunderland Elemenary School, Sunderland, MD.Excerpts from BowWows Canine Dance Theater to support silent auction and fundraiser for school. Update: We had an amazing turnout for this show: A cafeteria full of childen and adults clapping and singing along with our music. Even more exciting, the school exceeded it's fundraising goal!

Thursday, April 8, 6 p.m. Loch Lomand Elemenary School, Manassas, VA BowWows Canine Dance Theater. Full 45-minute show in which winners of the school's reading contest will come on stage to dance with the dogs. Sam and Tucker are really looking forward to meeting children who share a love of reading. Update: We had 16 winners of the reading contest! Each winner got a gold medal just like the Olympics. All contestants got a free bookmark and book of their choice. What a fabulous way to encourage children to read!

Saturday, April 24, 5-8 p.m., Calvert High School, Prince Frederick, MD. Excerpts from BowWows Canine Dance Theater to support fundraiser for Barstow Acres Children's Center. Update: What a delightful group of people! Children and adults sang, danced and modeled clothing all for a good cause. And Tucker and Sam got to join the group modeling party clothes -- and the latest in doggie formal wear.

Come see Sam and Tucker's adaptation of The Nutcracker Ballet -- The Nuts and Crackers Ballet. Appropriate for all school-age children.
